E3...So Far!!

If you didn't know, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) started on Monday and is continuing on through Thursday. Being the huge nerd that I am, I've been following all of the coverage and press conferences like a hawk and so far, the announcements, the new games, and the upcoming releases have been truly spectacular!!
Being someone who lives in a house with all three major consoles and both portable consoles, I've been able to look at every company's announcements and get equally excited for all the games that they presented. Now, E3 is far from over. Today, the last two press conferences from Konami (the makers of Metal Gear) and Square-Enix (the makers of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts) are today, so I still expect to have my mind blown some more later today.

But so far, here are the announcements that either got me really excited or completely blew me away!
- Microsoft announced 'Project Natal', a new technology that fully recognizes your body movements, facial expressions, and your voice. The demonstration was truly remarkable and will really shape the future of gaming and entertainment in the future.
- Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear franchise, surprised everyone by making an appearance on the Microsoft stage and announcing a new Metal Gear game for the Xbox 360 called 'Metal Gear Solid: Rising' staring Raiden as the main character. This is the first Metal Gear game to appear on the Xbox 360. The president of Microsoft said "That with Metal Gear on the Xbox 360, we can finally say that our console is complete", which was an obvious jab at Sony fanboys because last year Microsoft managed to get Final Fantasy XIII on their console too.
- Assassin's Creed 2 was officially dated for November 17th, 2009
- Left 4 Dead 2 was announced and dated for November 13th, 2009! I guess I 'really' need to buy part 1 now!
- Splinter Cell: Conviction was demoed and the new gameplay really impressed me. The game will be released Holiday 2009
- Nintendo announced a lot of games including 'New Super Mario Bros. Wii' with four player co-op for Holiday 2009
- Also announced was 'Metroid: Other M' for the Wii, being developed by the team who made the Dead or Alive series and Ninja Gaiden. Also being released Holiday 2009.
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 was announced, demoed and is slated for release early 2010
- Not at the Nintendo press conference, but formally announced anyway, was a new untitled Zelda game for the Wii. No official name or date was given, just a press sheet showing adult Link and a small girl wearing a glowing pendant
- Sony announced the PSP Go (mentioned before)
- Sony also announced that they to are moving into the motion control business with the announcement of their motion controller, out early next year. Unlike the Wii's controller, Sony's controller recognizes full 3D movement and will know how far up or away or how far left or right you are standing. The demonstration really impressed me.
- Hideo Kojima also appeared on the Sony stage to announce ANOTHER Metal Gear Solid game for the PSP called 'Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker', set in the 1970's and staring Big Boss. The game was announced for 2010 and some gameplay elements were shown. It seems to borrow a lot of gameplay from Metal Gear Solid 4, which is a very, very good thing!
- LittleBigPlanet for the PSP was officially announced but no other information was given
- Capcom announced a new Resident Evil game for the PSP. Again no other information was given
- Sony gave Final Fantasy fans a release window for Final Fantasy XIII and gave it a Spring 2010 release.
- Then immediately after that, completely out of nowhere, Sony announces 'Final Fantasy XIV: Online' exclusively for PS3!! Not only that, but they announced it for a 2010 release! Never before have Final Fantasy fans gotten two main games in one year!
- Soul Calibur for the PSP was also announced and will feature Kratos from God of War as a playable character.
- God of War 3 was demoed and given a March 2010 release date.
- Modern Warfare 2 (the sequel to Call of Duty 4) was demoed and given a release date of November 10th, 2009

Whew...so many game announcements and E3 isn't even done yet!! I wonder what's going to happen today?!
