Last Weekend's Live Shows
If you were a member of The First Among The Fallen, then that means you had an awesome weekend!!
Friday night we had a great show!! We were the first band to play to a crowd of about 75 people (mostly family and friends of all the bands playing that night). The crowd was excited and eager to hear some new music! That night, we also premiered our two new songs for the first time, 'Trust (In A Game Of Russian Roulette)' and 'The Modern Hymn' and the crowd, especially our loyal fans, seemed to absolutely love them!! It really was a great show!!
To top the night off, I went up on stage with our good friends Avolition during one of my favorite songs 'Light Me Up' and I sang along with Cameron, adding in my special dose of Grade A, TFATF screaming!!
Sunday night was also a great night!! I was still pretty sore from giving it my all on Friday night. My neck was stiff, my legs were weak, and my back was hunched, but I wasn't planning on letting that stop me from giving the crowd their money's worth!! So, earlier that day, my wife April gave me a couple of pills for muscle inflammation and a couple of hours later, I was feeling a lot better. Just to be sure though, I played Wii Fit all day and I brought a tube of Icy Hot to the show to make sure that I was on top of my game.
Right before we went on, my adrenaline starting flowing and I couldn't feel my pain anymore. So, I decided to use that to my advantage.
We were the fourth band to play that night and so far, the crowd didn't look to excited. I figured it was either because they didn't like the previous bands that played before us (two of them were cover bands), or that they were all mopey goth kids only here to see Wednesday 13.
First of all, looking at the crowd, I thought they were going to eat me alive!! We all know that self-proclaimed 'goth' kids DO NOT like...ahem...people like me. That's all that was going through my mind at the time and I was so worried that we were going to be booed off the stage because of something as stupid as how someone dresses.
Anyway, the sound-master dims the lights and introduces us. Our first new song 'The Modern Hymn' start playing and the lights slowly brighten. Just as the intro has reached its peak, I start screaming "The sky bled ashes today!!" And the rest, as they say, is history.
We were probably the first band playing that night in which the crowd started to take a liking to...even the goth kids. During our heaviest song, 'The Willow Tree', we were the first band to start a mosh pit!! A pretty big one too!! About 10-12 people!!
The only thing that sucked about that night was that didn't get a live DVD recorded like I promised our fans. The reason being (just between us) is that Mark was being a prick about it; he didn't want to pay for his portion because 'he' didn't want one. And because we were all strapped for cash, we couldn't afford it ourselves.
Oh well, maybe next time I guess.
So, like I told the crowd at the Whisky, we're going to lay low for a little while so that we can work on getting our CD recorded. We have a studio ready for us, we have a good producer, we just need the money to set everything up. Maybe while we're at it, we should work on getting some swag made up for us so that we can raise some money during our shows.
